Children and families are warmly greeted by our Early Childhood Educators. Our curriculum is based on the FLIGHT curriculum framework, as developed by Alberta Early Learning and Child Care through Children’s Services. The book Early Learning and Care Framework can be purchased online.
Guidance and care are programmed to help children develop socially, emotionally, cognitively, physically, creatively, and spiritually. Children are grouped according to their age and have a homeroom with Early Childhood Educators. Caregivers remain consistent and do not change. Equipment and curriculum in each room are tailored to the children’s developmental level.
Rooms are organized into learning centers: sand, water, arts and crafts, dramatic play, fine and gross motor skills, a library, and a quiet area. Learning activities, songs, games, storytime, and more are integrated into the centers to challenge and enhance each child’s individual development. Early Childhood Educators are kind, plan the curriculum, provide guidance, support developmental growth, and model appropriate behavior.
Educators and families are encouraged to communicate, as open communication benefits everyone in the growth and development of the children. Children spend time outside twice daily, so we ask that rainwear, summer wear, and winter wear be provided by families as needed.
